It Was Never Just About Fitness....

One of the biggest things people don’t talk about as a trainer is the playlist.
Sometimes you’re not just planning the workout, the flow, and the timing but, you’re also planning the music.
Honestly sometimes that can be nerve racking.
You never really know who is walking into your Boot Camp or Fitness class.
What kind of music do they like?
What motivates them?
What makes them feel comfortable?
You want the room to feel welcoming.
You want the energy to feel right.
Recently I conducted a class in a corporate building and the music was good,
the class was engaged, and everything was going well!
Then suddenly… one of my Christian songs came on.
Of course, it happened right while we were stretching.
I was demonstrating so, I couldn’t run over and switch it.
I just had to let it play.
If I’m being honest, I got nervous.
Because sometimes when we express our beliefs, it can feel intimidating.
You don’t want people to think you’re judging them.
You don’t want them to feel uncomfortable.
You don’t want them to look at you differently.
The song kept playing through the stretch, and later I changed it while we were cleaning up equipment.
As the class ended one of the ladies walked up to me, smiled, and said she liked my music.
That moment stayed with me.
Because it reminded me that even in small, unexpected moments...
the Holy Spirit is always present.
Lately, as Faith In Action continues to grow into corporate spaces, facilities, and different communities, one question keeps coming up..
“Are you going to change the name?”
And truthfully… no.
Faith In Action started as a Bible study before it ever became a fitness business.
By God’s grace, it has grown into something so much bigger than we ever imagined.
We’ve trained athletes.
We’ve trained kids.
We’ve trained the elderly.
We’ve worked with individuals with disabilities.
We’ve supported special-needs families.
We’ve even helped people battling some of the hardest health journeys of their lives.
Not just one group.
Not just one background.
Not just one story.
That name, like HIS name, has touched many populations.
Truth be told the name doesn’t push people away.
It draws the right people in.
Faith In Action is about living our beliefs by how we serve, how we coach,
how we care, and ultimately how we LOVE!
If you’ve ever trained with me, talked to me, or just watched one of my classes then
you probably already know that this isn’t just a job for me.
This is personal.
So what’s my goal?
It’s bigger than fitness.
My goal is to make my son’s condition accepted, to impact as many lives as possible with grace and strength, and to show people how my faith and taking care of my health has carried me through some of the toughest seasons of my life.
If I never become a millionaire, drive the nicest car, or live in the biggest house...
but, I do those three things..
I’m complete.
That’s the mission of our business.
It’s not about money.
It’s about people.
It’s about showing up, caring deeply, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome no matter their season, ability, or story.
We got into training because we love helping people and, watching them hit goals they didn’t think were possible, beat their numbers, build confidence, and become stronger not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
There were days I was having a really tough time…
days where my heart was heavy.
I'd put on a cap, get to the session or class,
and my clients couldn’t tell because in that moment, they needed me.
It’s about giving people the strength to keep going when life is hard.
Behind every rep is a real person.
Behind every goal is a real life.
And that is why we train the way we do.
We don’t just want to be your trainer.
We want you to feel safe.
We want you to feel supported.
We want you to feel understood.
We want you to consider us as a friend.
Not just the person counting your reps.
Not just the coach and, not just the trainer with the workout plan.
But someone who genuinely cares if you win in fitness and in life.
