Today makes seven years that Alex and I have been married.
Most people think a wedding is all about the bride and groom.
As I reflect, I can’t help but smile at all the amazing memories that were made that day.
Some of the most amazing moments that we can never get back.
These will always be moments that live in our hearts forever.
The laughter, the prayers, the people who surrounded us…
it was truly a glimpse of God’s goodness.
Over these seven years, we’ve built such a beautiful life together.
Not a perfect one;
but one that’s real.
We’ve had our ups and our downs,
our highs and our lows.
We’ve grown, stumbled, learned, and loved harder through every season.
Learning that 87% of families with a child who has special needs ends in divorce truly made me pause.
Honestly, I understand why that number is so high.
Raising a child with special needs can stretch a marriage in ways that most people can’t imagine.
The daily stress, the sleepless nights, the doctor’s appointments, the therapies,
the unknowns...
Some days you feel like you’re just trying to survive.
You grieve expectations you didn’t even realize you had.
You also tend to navigate emotions that go from joy, to exhaustion, to fear,
all in a single day!
That’s why I’m so grateful for Alex!
Through every challenge, he’s been steady.
When I’ve been overwhelmed, he’s been patient.
When I’ve had moments of doubt or guilt, he’s reminded me of grace.
We’ve both learned that marriage isn’t just about love.
It'’s really about teamwork, faith, and showing up even when it’s hard.
The 87% reminds me that what we have not only is rare but, it also reminds me to never take it for granted.
I am even incredibly thankful for him for sticking with me through every crazy
business idea I’ve ever dreamed up,
for supporting my candle obsession,
and for even saying “yes” when I asked him to do a Hyrox Competition with me
(pray for him, y’all!).
He’s just that great.
Always loving.
Always giving.
Always steady.
Here’s to seven years of love, laughter, faith, and growth and to many, many more ahead!
Love,
Kay
