The Evidence is Everywhere
I challenge you to become more intentional about spending time with God.
I used to wait until the end of the day to pray but, after training clients, preparing dinner, completing bedtime routines, and getting the kids ready for the next day... I was exhausted.
Over the past few weeks, I made up my mind to become more consistent in my prayer life.
I decided to give morning prayer a try.
There is something powerful about beginning the day in prayer.
Before the demands of the day begin I can give God my full attention.
Morning prayers give me the opportunity to thank Him for another day,
ask Him to direct my path, and invite Him into any challenges that I may face that day.
Starting my day off with prayer does not mean that my days will be perfect
or, even free from challenges.
It just means that I am no longer beginning my day depending only on my own strength. When I pray first, I am reminded that God is already present.
He is already working and, already prepared for everything that may come my way.
God has also been reminding me of His love through my children.
While advocating for my son during a recent IEP meeting,
I noticed that some of the teachers/staff focused on his weaknesses
and, what he was not yet capable of doing.
I saw his strengths.
I saw what he could do, how far he had come, and the potential inside him.
That moment reminded me of how God sees us.
The world may focus on our weaknesses, limitations, and mistakes.
God recognizes the strength, purpose, and potential.
He placed this within us.
He doesn’t define us by what we cannot do.
He sees who we are and who we are becoming.
God also showed up through a complete stranger during a recent doctor’s visit with my littles. A woman whose name I do not even know stepped in and helped me.
She may have thought she was simply performing a small act of kindness but, to me it was another reminder that Jesus was there too.
She may not have understood everything but, God placed her in my path at exactly the right moment.
I feel that same reminder when I bring my son to his regular therapy sessions.
Occasionally, the waiting area is crowded with parents and their children.
These families are quietly carrying responsibilities, concerns, victories, and challenges that most people never see.
We are all families sitting in the lobby with situations that money cannot fix.
Some things like this just require a whole lot of Faith, patience, and time.
It is an entirely different world and, I wish more people knew about it.
I wish they understood the strength it takes to keep attending appointments, advocating in meetings, learning new information, celebrating small victories, and continuing to believe in your child even when others only see limitations.
I truly believe God designed every person uniquely and gave each of us a purpose in His kingdom.
Our circumstances and journeys may look different
but, we all need the same God.
Jesus is present in our morning prayers.
He is in the IEP meetings.
He is in the crowded therapy lobbies.
He is in the kindness of a stranger at a doctor’s appointment.
He is in our exhaustion, our advocacy, our uncertainty, and our victories.
Jesus is everywhere.
The question is: Are we paying attention?
If your prayers have become short and rushed or, you feel like there is never a “right time” to pray then I challenge you to take one intentional step toward God.
Start your morning with Him.
Give Him your time, your worries, your exhaustion and, everything you have been trying to carry alone.
You may not wake up to a completely different life but, you can begin your day with a different kind of peace.
